Det har skrivits många böcker om Tupac Shakur, nu är det dock klart med den första som får stöd från hans mor Afeni Shakur, biografin ska skrivas av journalisten Kevin Powell som länge skrev för Vibe och som följde 2pac´s liv på nära håll under 90-talet. Powell säger så här om sitt uppdrag:
"He remains, all these years later, one of the most dynamic and complicated humans I've ever encountered. I will present Tupac as the very whole and multi-layered being he was, as I remember well his asking me, quite prophetically, to be Alex Haley to his Malcolm X. It's an honor to write what will be the definitive biography on the life and times of Tupac Shakur, one of the greatest icons in hip hop and pop culture history"
